WHALE WATCHING

Reports of whale sightings in Victor Harbor, South Australia have begun early this year, making this the perfect time to book one of Encounter Australia's exciting new whale watching packages.

Over 29 different species of whale and dolphin have been seen in South Australian waters, the largest being the Blue Whale - measuring a whopping 25 to 30 metres in length. The smallest whale recorded in South Australian waters is the Dwarf Sperm Whale, measuring a tiny 2.5 metres in length. Whale visits to South Australian waters have been on the increase since the 1800's.

Whales are often seen from the shores of Victor Harbor playing in the clear blue waters of South Australia. Whales come to these waters to give birth, it is not uncommon to see whales caring for their young calves.

Encounter Australia's new whale packages are valid from June to September, 2001. These packages include visits to the South Australian Whale Centre, guided whale watching tours, dolphin and Coorong cruises and much more.
You will have the opportunity to witness the whales slowly travelling along, displaying behaviours such as tail waving, body rolling, slapping their fins against the water, and spouting water on this action packed adventure tour. It is a unique and amazing experience to witness these Giants of the Ocean.
Encounter Australia can easily arrange these tours specifically for school and educational groups. If you would like more information on how to include whale watching in other tour packages, please feel free to contact our office at any time, our friendly staff are always happy to help.
